Tim, it is always an inspiration to listen and experience through you, Tim.

This edition was especially poignant with the addition of great friend Jon Burgess. Jon and his girls went with us many years ago in spirit, when our son Nathaniel organized the trips to Uganda with H4KI. We had a very similar experiences including a visit to the school, medical clinic, 2 deep water wells and the shower facility Jon's family sponsored at Smile Africa. The sheer unbridled joy when those little Karamojong orphans relished those fresh showers, will remain a vivid life memory for each of our group.

Moreover, the time we spent at an orphanage run by Anglican Bishop Cormier near Queen Elizabeth National Park continues to both haunt and reassure that God can overcome pure evil. He was struck in the face with a machete and left on his porch to die. He still carries the massive scar which now serves as an emblem of hope. His congregations now number well over 40,000.

I am ecstatic that Jon could experience this with y'all. I pray that God will bless you and yours in your retirement.

This episode was such a blessing to me. This morning I struggled to find rest and peace during my quiet time. I opened my podcasts in the car and this popped up.

I went to Kigali, Rwanda, in June of 2012. I spent a month there, teaching 4th graders to speak English, as the country was moving to adopt English as their official language.

The people of Rwanda are so resilient, beautiful, kind, and welcoming. I was there with a group from Harding University, in Searcy, AR, and Africa Reads. We brought books to the schools, and helped train teachers. I saw the city from a moto, ate at Hotel Rwanda, worshipped and wept at the memorials, worshipped at a church that was housed in a huge tent, and stayed at a convent and was cared for by the sisters there.

Some of our conversations with the Rwandans included them praying for us, warning us that if we didn’t change our ways, we would find ourselves facing g the same situation that they experienced in 1994. I brought back that fire warning, but it fell on deaf ears, and…here we are on the mountain ledge.

I am so thankful to hear of good tidings from Rwanda. They are special in my heart.
